La Tour D’Argent

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Right off the bank of Le Douron, this historic restaurant serves one star Michelin Rated food. It first opened in 1582 as a inn, and only in 1936 did the restaurant move to occupy upstairs as well. We visited after their recent renovation(which occurred between April 2022 – August 2023).

Their executive chef Yannick Franques has worked through a plethora of top restaurants, including the Chateau Saint-Martin where he earned two Michelin stars. He’s known for his high quality French foods, including his high quality duck dishes.

We ordered their famed pressed duck as well as their four course lunch menu. Also another tip, if you go, do not eat the small white spherical fish they bring you while you are waiting to be seated, or you can play a game to decide the loser who has to eat it😁(it’s circled in image 1).

Their four course lunch meal started with Pink-Perch Quenelles, with burrata and basil oil.

Their second dish is their amberjack with split pea hummus and bacon+squid.

It’s followed by the seasonal duckling dish with roasted ginger topped with mango and cilantro chutney.

We added on the extra cheese plate selection, it comes with 7 different kinds of cheese from the local region.

Some of the best items of the meal came from their dessert selection, as their Raspberry dessert with Chantilly cream was great along with their sorbet dessert. We also recommend their hot chocolate.

Taking into the account the historical significance, food quality and taste, plus the view/atmosphere, we give La Tour D’argent a:
