Located in Shibuya Tokyo, Ichiran is a chain that originated in the 1960s, serving rich and creamy tonkatsu broth. Their original location was located in Fukuoka Japan(the birthplace of tonkatsu ramen), were they eventually evolved into the global chain that we see today.
Currently, they are best known for their different dashi options, including their customizable ramen meals. At this location in Shibuya, they offer customizable options for the dashi(saltiness, richness/oil amount), minced garlic, scallion, chashu, spice level and noodle texture.
We ordered their classic ramen with chashu and a extra serving of chashu.


These signs are very helpful to let staff know what is going on and where you are in your meal. It helps them know whether you are in the restroom, have a question/request and lets them know when you are ready for your dessert.
The matcha pudding is decent and is a perfect light dessert after having the rich tonkatsu broth.

The wait typically strays up the stairs and onto the street, and it’s probably not the number one ramen spot in Tokyo. But the special atmosphere, unique experience and exceptional food and customer service making it a great restaurant to visit late at night after shopping or a long day out.
